Art professor invites community to Bowl-a-Thon

Ken Shipley, professor of art in the ceramics area at Austin Peay State University, will conduct a “Bowl-a-Thon” at 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 2 in the Trahern Building.

The purpose of the “Bowl-a-Thon” is to produce several bowls for the “Empty Bowls” project. According to the organization’s website, “Empty Bowls” goals are “to raise money to help organizations fight hunger, to raise awareness about the issues of hunger and food security, and to help bring about an attitude that will not allow hunger to exist.”

Participants are welcome to come to the Oct. 2 to make bowls. Those attending who are not capable of “throwing” the bowls will be taught handmade methods on site.
